Butler's Inspiration

I know my blog is supposed to be about Wyoming sports; however I am amazed at Butler's performance in the tournament. I don't know if you were like I was when the tournament first started, but I had never even heard of Butler. It has been a tradition to create your own bracket, and how you expect each team to do throughout the tournament. I personally didn’t make a bracket, but everyone that I know that had a bracket kept telling me that they either didn’t expect Butler to make it out of the first or second round of the tournament. Butler did make it past the first and second round of the tournament and shocked everyone when they made it to the final four. Then Butler really shocked the country when they beat Michigan State to move on to the final two. Last night Butler played in the championship game against Duke. The game was close all the way through it, and unfortunately everyone who was rutting for the small town team was disappointed when they lost the game by two points.

This game was extremely inspiring to me, because like Butler, the University of Wyoming is a small school. It just goes to show that anything is possible and if I put my mind to it, I could make it to nationals also. There are people on my team who made it to indoor nationals, and plan to repeat their experience for the outdoor season. For me, making it to nationals would be the most amazing accomplishment of my life. I am however still far away from making it to this level, but I will not let that stop me from doing my best, and pushing my body to the limit. Seeing small schools do good is inspiring to me, and I don’t care if people believe that anyone who was rutting for Butler was just jumping on the bandwagon, it was an inspirational event.

  1. Yeah, Butler's performance was awesome. What a heart-breaker at the end. I wonder if someone will make a movie about this someday?
